About me
Choosing a therapist can feel really daunting. There is so much choice. Please rest assured that there is no right or wrong here. Just go with what feels right for you. I have popped a bit of information about me below, to help with the process.
Hello! I am Holly. I have three children, a dog, a cat, and I live with my husband in Wiltshire, near Bath.
As a therapist, I hold a certificate in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy from the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, and read widely about the latest developments in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, so I can best serve you. I am fully insured, and am regulated by the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council.
In my other life, I am a practising solicitor, specialising in mental capacity and care law. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by how people’s minds work, how we interact with the world around us, and the personal impact of brain injury, dementia and mental health issues. My undergraduate degree was in Philosophy, and I specialised in philosophy of mind. After graduation, I realised that I needed to pursue a career that was aligned with my values, and allowed me to give back to the world, so I qualified as a solicitor in order to specialise in mental capacity law. The people and families that I am lucky enough to work with on a day to day basis have often experienced significant trauma, or are at a point of extreme personal stress in their lives. It is a privilege to be able to work alongside and help people at such difficult times.
I understand the pressures of professional life, and have experienced burn out, anxiety, trauma and PTSD. I know the bravery it takes to start looking for support, and taking steps to make a change.
In 2016, my brother, William, suffered a catastrophic brain injury following a road traffic accident. To say that my life was turned upside down is an understatement. My worlds of working in mental capacity law as a solicitor, and being a family member of a person with a brain injury collided, and I experienced the lows of what it is to be a family member of a seriously ill person, and all of the conflict, stress and uncertainty that that brings with it, as well as the highs of watching my brother’s journey to recovery.
I have also experienced first hand the immeasurable impact therapy for stress, anxiety, trauma and burnout can have, and in particular, how effective hypnotherapy can be at changing lives for the better.
If I sound like the sort of person you would like to work with, then please get in touch.
